BABU Release 1.0
The release 1.0 is now available! Finally!
— ATTENTION: WebGL build — I could build the WebGL version and it runs. That was the good news. BUT: The controls do not feel good. That is a no-go for a skill-centered game. I do not recommend to play that build if you want to play through the game. It is okay to play to get a first impression tough.
I recommend the downloadable version.
My Linux update (from 2009) failed. Could also not install a newer version on the old PC (BIOS problems). So I have no clue if the Linux build will run at all.
New features:
- Graphics Update!
- The old magenta graphics have been replaced by default with blu-ish graphics to better fit the eye.
- Users now can also choose between the old and the new graphics
- Minor graphic updates and some new graphics have been added
2.) Impact / Player Feedback
- The blocks are now showing if they have received damage or much damage
- The bombs now blow more violently
- There now is a noteable difference between bomb and super-bomb range
3.) Controlling

The player will not get stuck while moving alongside a wall of blocks anymore

Small first approach to address a problem with diagonal movement, not much impact though

More Gamepad support has been extended. BUT: Still not all supported. Please report any problems with joysticks or gamepads and tell the problem and the type of controller.

You can turn up or down the volume in the menu now.
4.) Bugfixes:
- No(?) more phantom blocks, causing robots to spawn new blocks in mid of a block line
- No wrong positioning of the player after entering a new level anymore
- Bomb-spawn-timer now resets between levels
- WebGL build finally running again (still not a good feeling playing it in the browser)
- Several minor bug fixes
5.) And more? Sorry I could not include all of the recent user feedback yet. But there will be a next update version 1.1.
By the way: Would you like some ingame music or a title music?
I am always hungry for your feedback. :)
Features to come with version 1.1:
- Debris from destroyed blocks
- Enemy robots floating in space when their block gets destroyed
- New sound effects for those new features
- 10 new levels, leading you into outer space
- A new minimap and intro screen for that 2nd part of the game
- New backgrounds for our new and old journey
- New turret fire sequences
- New bomb type: horizontal flare
- A more refined sound configuration in the options menu
- maybe highscore input even when losing the game
- maybe a short(?) title melody
- maybe a demo playing on start screen when left unattended for some time
- maybe a bomb countdown after placing them
- Fix the diagonal movement problem. (That may become my personal hell)
